The Blood Message – Part 2

“But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it.” (Genesis 9.4-5)

Certainly we can see in this verse that no one was meant to live by eating flesh.

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.” Leviticus. 17:11.

Two different passages of scripture gives us pause to try to understand God’s take on the matter of eating flesh foods. A modern day Jew prides himself on eating kosher, meat that has been blessed by a Rabbi, a human being. Some strict orthodox Jews attempt to drain out the blood from the animal before cooking it.

But these attempts to circumvent a plain thus saith the Lord is totally ridiculous. Even a grade school child knows it’s impossible to get all of the blood out of a chicken, no matter how you try. God says, “The flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof shall ye not eat.” In other words friend, the blood that’s an inherent part of the cow is the life of it. It must not be eaten period.

But no, we try to fool ourselves into thinking we can ignore God and eat meat. Doesn’t God know what’s best for us? In addition, God is very specific about the blood in relation to sacrifice to Him. Leviticus 17:11 goes on to say that the blood has been given to us upon the altar (note the sanctuary language) as an atonement for our soul’s salvation. Marvellous! Thank you Lord.

Many reasons have been put forward why we should not eat meat, but this has got to be one of the most powerful. Let us obey God in every aspect of our lives.
